The common denominator in any lethargic displays is often the inclusion of Trotter.
It's depressing to see his name on the team sheet....or even on the list of subs. Plenty of our players can do his job at twice the speed, releasing the forwards a lot quicker so we don't have to pump as many long balls up to Madine. Get him off our wage bill!

There is another common denominator which is that lethargic displays usually follow good results and that's despite Parky et al banging on in the media about "not letting the lads get carried away".okocha wrote:The common denominator in any lethargic displays is often the inclusion of Trotter.

I can't help but feel that there are a few egos in the team who believe their own hype despite us having far more than our fair share of luck recently. It's as though they don't know how narrow the margins really are.

I was at the game, but only just got round to reading this.
First off Trotter was complete garbage and should not be let loose on a football field again, not sure how far off Pratley is but hopefully he will provide more options if needed
Alnwicks distribution was very poor, hit every kick up the middle of the park rather than towards an area where Madine could challenge for the ball.
Derik was way to reluctant to get forward in support of Ameobi n the way Wilson has and that led to us losing the ball too often and being on the back foot.
Henry was also playing too deep compared with where clough would be and offered little as others have noted.
Game changed with Clayton and Clough on, surprised to see Clough central and Clayton out wide as I thought Clayton would be better inside and ultimately he was very calm finishing his opportunity.
We've struggled against Chesterfield, Coventry and Swindon, what is the consistent factor? me and the youngest have been to all three games, think we should perhaps not travel to the away games.

We've been dreadful away from home for years and we've always fucked up our big chance, think Blackpool at home and Leicester away.
We freeze on the big stage, which is why we'll struggle over the line and scrape second place

The only Leicester away I like to remember is from 2001, 5-0 now that is an away game

We played them about 3 years ago, think the score was 5-3, anyway it was a big game that we froze in

They were riding high at the time at the top of the league.
We were in 18th place.
With a minute to go, there was only one goal in it with us having scored 3 goals against the league leaders on their own turf.
During the game they had only 1 more shot than us (12 to 11) and we matched them for attempts on target (5-5).
Yeah, we definitely froze that day.....
Stick to making up transfer rumours.
When's that kid from Newcastle joining us on loan, by the way....?

Yep, too many away days seem like that, trouble is these are not big games and we still fall to bits.
We still have to play a lot of the top teams away from home, and should we miss automatic promotion then we may well have to perform away from home in the playoffs.

We most certainly will, especially if we make the final.Fabians Right Peg wrote:Boggersbelief wrote:Fabians Right Peg wrote:Boggersbelief wrote:We've been dreadful away from home for years and we've always fucked up our big chance, think Blackpool at home and Leicester away.
