Tbh honest Johnny I'm surprised at just how good Richard Ashcroft's new album is. I've not heard every single song in there but I have heard the majority and it's brilliant. I could listen to the song I've posted there all day long at the moment, I love it.y2johnny wrote:Love both of those 58, especially RA's new album. Dont think anything will ever beat northern soul.

never really liked any of RA's solo stuff, i was a massive Verve fan as well and he just can't get anywhere near that level now
Doves are fantastic, love them, i listened to their debut album a few weeks ago after a few years not playing it and i'd forgotten how brilliant it was (as are all their albums)

I'll have to give Ashcroft's latest another listen. I couldn't get into the last time I gave it a listen. Bit middle of the road for my liking but will try again.
Doves are brilliant. Not a bad track on Lost Souls. I could listen to it all day.

Watch us go when Norpig pays for the rest of his drum kit.

Shania Twain.
Mild-mannered, Canadian AOR 90's bland bollocks.
You'd never buy one of her CD's but you would, er....you know....do the whatsit with her...probably.....what with that leopard skin catsuit and that....anyway......
Check this shit out:
She's gone all fucking Floyd!
If you were blindfolded against your will and were then lead into that arena, you could well be forgiven for thinking that you'd dropped lucky and were about to enjoy 2 hours of top rock music.
For the first three minutes at least....
But then the synth kicks in...and the truth is revealed.
Boots though......

I need some new tunes.
I sit at work and have to listen to 80s pop and The XX all day long. When did they take over the world?
Any suggestions? Howard Jones and ABC definitely not what I'm looking for.

you've come to the right man Fin
Holy Esque - one of my favourite bands over the last 12 months, a great post punk guitar band from Glasgow
Jagwar Ma have a new album out which is good, electronic/dance but influenced by Madchester bands
Toy, Gengahr, Glass Animals, Honeyblood, Cheatahs and Courtney Barnett are all indie/guitar types are all good
if you want something more electronic try Haelos, Gymnast, Floating Points, Kiasmos (i think you know the last 2 already?) and C Duncan
I'm sure there are plenty more i could think of
