Playing a little bit of devils advocate, but what if all clubs decided together not to pay for policing around the grounds, and brought in their own security (i.e. G4S - I know bad example but....) for inside the ground?

Or what would happen if all the clubs decided to let British transport Police police the outside perimeter of the their grounds (i.e. up to where the official ground ends - in Bolton's case the car-parks attached to the stadium)? - Only saying BTP as there are buses and coaches used for people to get to the grounds!

What are the clubs own stewards responsibilities inside the ground, what authority do they have and how much are they paid. I mention the pay issue because I think they might employ people who may not be taken-on by the police force but are happy to work for minimum pay and the chance to watch the game free. Also what training do stewards get?

Private security firms have no more authority than the man in the ice-cream van. Why any responsible club would want these people near their grounds is beyond me.
