I've recently purchased a mountain bike in the January sales and plan to go cycling a lot, its a great way to see the local area.
Went for my first bike ride (for over 20 years) and I really enjoyed it.  Cycling the canal routes are great, nice and level, lovely surroundings and the people who walk along them are very friendly.

Does anyone else go cycling?

Didn't Bonce fall off his bike into the canal not so long back!

I am a great follower of cycling as people on here know but the only cycling I do these days is in the gym.

The roads are too dangerous for me these days and the traffic pollution must be dreadful these days.

Enjoy your rides out in to the countryside BTID and when cycling along the towpath - don't fall in like some!

Very Happy

Stay off the roads BTID, They're bad enough when you're in a car, never mind on a bike.

There is a bit of a climb on the Rochdale canal as there are a few locks near Sowerby Bridge as I remember. You'll be a damned sight quicker than a narrow boat that's for sure. Takes ages at 5 mph.
