Gary Cahill today (Monday) completed his transfer to Chelsea.

He becomes the fifth current England international in the squad and having passed a medical examination on Saturday morning, watched his new team-mates beat Sunderland in the afternoon.

On moving to Stamford Bridge from Bolton Wanderers, the 26-year-old central defender said:

'Chelsea is a massive club, it is a club that looks to win trophies season in season out and it is a big opportunity for me to be a part of that. Opportunities like this you can't turn down.'

Can't say I am not gutted he has gone to be honest even though I knew he was going to go sooner or later.

Good luck to the lad I just hope he settles in better than what Nic Anelka did when he went there.

I wish him the best of luck except when Chelsea play us (of course, they won't need luck!) - he's a good lad who has had many good performances in a Bolton shirt and I'm sorry to see him go.

I wish him well. He's always been an honest player and prepared to give it a go, wherever and whenever. Hopefully, our defence can now spread the load, instead of relying on him, and we can actually start playing as a defensive unit.

Knight always seemed to have his ''better'' games for us when Cahill didn't play in my opinion.

Hopefully he can get a good partnership worked up with Wheats or Ream when he signs.

I was hoping he would warm the bench

7 million is a pretty decent return for a player who leaves on a free in a couple of months. Shame we didnt sell him for more in the summer considering our season couldnt have gone any worse even without him.

Thank God for that!

I'm sick of hearing about him. He's been poor all season and at no point during his 4 years with us have I felt we'd struggle without him.

Going off Saturdays performance against United, I wont be holding my breath. I would of preferred it if Chelsea had come in for Knight instead.

The Knight/Ricketts CB partnership last season was solid. Put Riley on one side and Alonso on the other and it could be the start of something wonderful....or not.

When is Alonso up before the beak ?

Cahill had a mare today against Utd. Making his debut for Chelsea he was lucky not to get sent off. He nearly scored at the death but when you are 3-0 up you expect your defenders to close the game out.

He was at fault for the 3rd goal IMO, lost his man (Hernandez), but as you say he should have been sent off.



Good effort from him at the death though.
