Ok, it's clear some of you have some cool musical tastes, but have you always been so cool? What was the FIRST gig you ever went to? Not the best or the worst but the very first one. Be honest.
What was the FIRST gig/concert you went to?

I had some friends at 6th form who were into metal and they roped me into going to see Therapy? at the Manchester Apollo with them in 1995. We were quite near the front, and I was a bit taken aback that crowd surfers thought it was ok to kick and knee and put their full weight on my head as they passed over me.
Other than that my first gig was Oasis at Knebworth. They were supported by Bootleg Beatles, Ocean Colour Scene, Chemical Brothers, Manic Street Preachers and The Prodigy. So all in all a tremendous gig for 1996.
I was a bit naive about the whole thing to be honest. I remember getting a taxi into Bolton town centre to meet the coach about 6 AM on the Saturday. I genuinely didn't think it would be a full 24 hours before I got off the coach again the following day.
On the coach down I sat with my mates right at the back. These Manc scallies got on and joined us. Soon, spliffs were being passed round. The driver didn't give a shit. Can you imagine that? Only 16 years ago, smoking spliffs on a coach?
Anyway, one of the scallies didn't get back on the coach after the gig. The driver decided to wait an hour for the fucker. Because of this delay, it took another two and a half hours to get out of the car park as we were right at the back. Then we saw the knobhead at Hilton Park on the way back, he'd just decided to get on another coach with someone else he knew.

You don't half have some gig stories largehat! I'm surprised you had time to do anything else!

Not really a gig as such but my Mum took me to see Betty Boo do a two-song appearance at Our Price in Manchester.

I don't go to an awful lot of gigs. I didn't go to any between Knebworth in 1996 and my first Glastonbury, in 2002. I've been to Glastonbury every year since then (except 2006 and this year as they are years off) but apart from that I've only been to about 10 other gigs ever. I just love the whole Glastonbury experience, it's like visiting a happier, simpler world for 5 days a year. I treat it like an annual holoday.

My first gig was also the best one I've ever been to. Manic Street Preachers at the Millenium Stadium, December 31st 1999.

I saw Deacon Blue and Cathy Dennis somewhere when I was young. Pretty sure that was the first concert I ever went. I've got way cooler since then though.

I used to love it when she touched me all night long.
