Katie Hopkins

Apparently she's left LBC Radio with immediate effect - cleary said something obnoxious (probably something over Manchester with it being so recent).

To be honest I don't follow her work (tweets, newspaper articles, etc, etc) and I'm not interested why she's gone.

She made her name on The Apprentice a while back and she clearly has a good brain in her head.

The reason for the post is that I just don't get why people take any notice of these high profile wums - and thus make them high profile in the first place?

Why do people hang on Hopkins words and views and react on them - she says them deliberately just so they react - and gets paid good money to get people tuning into the radio or buying the paper - just to see what shite she's spouting today.

She's far from being alone in acting this way - Piers Morgan, Russell Brand and plenty other attention seeking narcissuses do the same - and folk line up to tut tut at what they say and respond by tweeting back or venting on other social media.

Surely the best way to get shut of wums is not to bite, let them rant to their hearts content but don't respond - they soon blow themselves out.

I guess that will never happen though as you can see multitudes of people doing the same thing on a much smaller scale, ranting away on say twitter, rocking up tens of thousands of tweets yet with few actual followers.

Who really gives a fuck - yet many do?

Why is that?

Because people like her are dangerous.

Not everybody is playing with a full deck and when they hear or see or hear someone in an apparent position of authority on the TV or radio spouting disgusting, racist bullshit like Hopkins does (she got potted for calling for a "final solution to the Muslim problem"), they think it's ok to do the same.

So they do.

And innocent people get hurt as a direct result.

And if you don't get that already, there's really no point continuing this discussion.

When did people on this site stop reading the comments from other contributors before posting their own?

I mean, I can appreciate that it's tiresome to have to wade through, erm......one comment to get a fuller picture of the discussion, but you don't get anywhere in life without putting the effort in...

Have to agree with Bread on this one. She knew exactly what she was saying,and the response it would receive.
It's easy to poke fun at Hopkins and her ilk,but we ignore the effect they can have at our peril.

She's been allover Twitter today posting supposedly supportive emails from people bemoaning the fact that she's been sacked from LBC for being a racist cunt.

No independent confirmation, no context, no actual proof that they're real emails - Just the nasty big nosed cow's word that they're genuine.

"I'm 90 and nearly dead and I'm thankful for that fact because the Britain I grew up in is full of Pakis now and I can't wait to die" kind of shit - Seriously, google it.

I have no idea what her Facebook following is because I don't do Facebook and I can't be arsed creating an account to find out.

But it's not without the realms of possibility that it's equally as large, if not bigger.

This woman is clearly so desperate to be famous (and make money as a result, which is obviously the real motivator in all this) that she is happy to peddle her shit to anyone who will give her a platform.

If we continue as a society to facilitate people like Hopkins, Hannity, Alex Jones, Milo Yiannopoulos and, by extension, Trump we are in serious trouble.

20 years ago the internet was a social sidebar. It was a whimsical escape where a dedicated few who were "in the know" could watch porn all day and exchange views on writing code and not a lot else.

Nowadays, it's everywhere in everything we do. 

And fuckers like Katie Hopkins are smart enough to exploit that fact.

The Apprentice is chock full of desperate wannabes in Armani suits they've mortgaged themselves to buy, just so they look the part and can fit in. (Shirts  and undies supplied by Florence & Fred @ Tesco by the way.)

While we're at it, I've seen it suggested that Wanderers might take a punt on Joey Barton, but he's not far behind the other vile, irredeemable creatures that Bread lists, and should not be touched with a barge pole.
