I've just bought a new MacBook Pro,and my bank account is still screaming.

A beautiful piece of kit,I'll grant you, but is any laptop worth such an eye watering price.

This from a man who refuses to spend more than thirty quid on a watch.Shocked

No, not worth the money when you can a laptop for roughly half the price depending on which model bought that is just as good. Very Happy

I've spent many years using Windows computers, and up until a few years ago,I'd resisted the Mac,because, quite frankly I couldn't stand Steve Jobs.
Then,I decided to try one. It was a revelation.
Although I still use Windows computers, my Macs are the go to machines.
But value for money? No.
Then again, neither is a season ticket for the Macron.
You pays your money, and you takes your choice.

Thats more for gamers KP. Good value though.

I suppose I've paid a premium for style and portability, but I love it.

Sometimes it's not about value for money it is about buying something you want even if you could have got cheaper to do the same thing.

My daughter wanted an apple mac for when she went to university.

I asked around at some people who knew a bit about computers and they said that for my daughters needs (she was not using it for design or artistic work) I could have got her something a lot cheaper that would be all she needed and more.

I thought what the hell, I rather pay over the odds and send her on her way with something she wanted, (probably most if not all of her friends had to) and back her with my money, rather than save a few hundred, make her feel second rate (compared to her friends) and look a cheapskate in her eyes.

(Luckily I had the money to waste - I know many parents don't).

I guess it did the job as she graduated well and never once had any issues with the apple mac during her degree.

Value for money - probably not but money well spent - I would say so.

The same for Bonce I would say too.

I agree Sluffy. Compared to my Windows computers, the Macs run like a dream, and I'm sure your daughter benefited from the reliability and stability of a Mac.
And if you can't treat your Daughter, who can you treat? Very Happy

I once heard the theory that Windows machines we buy, are merely the test bed for future developments, hence the continual updates, changes, etc. The Mac is the finished stand-alone version.
