no, of course not... I think the general lack of ambition we have showed over the past few years proves it.
we never go 'balls deep' to get a player... we are to quick to walk away.
refuse to 'speculate to accumulate' - instead we just 'hope' everything turns out ok. for example, west ham got promoted this year - they will spend premier league money on KEEPING them a premier league club... should we go up, we will simply 'hope' we stay up by spending next to nothing and having very much the same championship squad we had when we came up...
It really grates on me how gartside told Sam to fuck off when he wanted a few million to get us in the champions league... i stand by my opinion that we were in with a SERIOUS fighting chance - that SHOWS a lack of ambition - even you cant argue with that.
also, the argument that no money was available is also bullshit... sacking big Sam would have cost us a lot of money, on top of this we also allowed gary megson to waste 13 million on elmander not long after this (I know Sammy lee didn't spend much but there is no point talking about him, he wasn't here long enough)
How much debt is it you want the club to get into before you will consider us to be ambitious or 'balls deep' enough in our transfer strategy?
You're going to have to accept at some point, Rebel, sooner, rather than later I hope for the sake of your sanity, that organically, Bolton Wanderers is a small football club and will never compete at the upper echelons of English football.
There are two sides to the story with regards to Allardyce wanting to sign Vidic and Evra and we've only head Allardyce's side, haven't we. Therefore we do not have a reliable account of events upon which to form a balanced and informed opinion. It follows that all your conclusions drawn from that, and your subsequent ire, are subjective.
your opinions are are also subjective larghat - you seem to forget this when lecturing people.
let me ask you this...
you are the chairman of BWFC.
one year - we are sat in the premier league top 6 with a few games to go. we needed 4 points to get to 4th spot. the manager asked you for 10 million pounds to sign 2 players whom he was confident would get us in to the champions league - you said no as there is no money.
regardless of who was fucking whose wife, you told me no money was available...
you then get sacked... and your successor gets to waste 13 million quid on Johan elmander not very long after.
so money WAS there... so this poses the question...
why the fuck did garty say 'we dont want to qualify for the champions league'
???
that shows a lack of ambition... a big one.
either that, or his hatred (for whatever reason, the above comments are tongue-in-cheek) for big Sam clouded his professional judgement - something gartside should be ashamed of.
If gartsides side of the story IS indeed different to big sams ... then why the fuck has he not come out and said it?
thus... big Sam is right.
