Phil Parkinson believes he is starting to assemble an attacking arsenal to cause problems in the Championship.
Quite aside from the score-line against Sheffield Wednesday last weekend, the Wanderers boss was equally pleased with the number of chances his side created.
And with Will Buckley now back in contention for today’s home clash with QPR, he feels he has a front line which will bring goals.
“It was end-to-end against Sheffield Wednesday and when you looked at their side in the second half, it was always going to create chances,” he told The Bolton News.
“The great thing from my point of view was that every time we got the ball, we were driving forward in numbers too. We looked as if we’d score. That is so important. That attacking threat is what has improved over the last few weeks.
“Having the legs of Sammy Ameobi, Josh Vela, Adam Armstrong, Fil Morais, Craig Noone and Will Buckley – we have got players who’ll go box-to-box quickly. And we haven’t always had that this season.”
Vela has suffered no ill-effects after his return to action last week.
Parkinson revealed the midfielder had to have an injection in a heel problem but it will not hamper his chances of playing this afternoon.
“Josh came off after 80 minutes because he’d been flat out - but that’s just the way he plays,” the manager added.
QPR come to the Macron missing some of their first-choice defenders.
Grant Hall suffered a setback in his return from a knee injury yesterday and Ian Holloway’s side are also without experience pair James Perch and Nedum Onuoha.
