Phil Parkinson says his side will shrug off the disappointment of Fulham’s late leveller on Saturday and go all guns blazing for Sunderland.
Despite Tom Cairney’s 94th minute equaliser taking the gloss off a resolute defensive display at Craven Cottage, the Wanderers boss refused to be downbeat as another crunch clash comes into view.
The Whites have a chance to climb off the foot of the table at the Stadium of Light, where they come up against a Sunderland side which has struggled to adapt since relegation from the Premier League.
And though two dropped points in West London left a bitter taste in the mouth on Saturday, Parkinson reckons a performance of equal passion will be enough to topple the Black Cats.
“Belief has come back into the players, which when you lose games it does drift away,” he told The Bolton News.
“It hurts that we didn’t get three points but we’re not going to let it knock us.
“We are going to get goals. We are looking more threatening. In the last few weeks we have improved. And a point on the road is never a bad thing.
“Sunderland is another big test but playing like that, I think the players will relish the challenge.”
Wanderers may have to shuffle their pack after Andy Taylor picked up a back strain and Sammy Ameobi had to leave the field with cramp in the second half.
Antonee Robinson, Craig Noone and Will Buckley could now come into the equation on Tuesday night.
“We’ve got a few bumps and bruises but everyone else has to play Tuesday, so we’ll get on with it,” Parkinson said.
“Andy Taylor’s back seized up when he struck that ball just after half time, which is disappointing, but young Antonee Robinson gives us that thrust going forward and adds something different to the team.
“Sammy showed great quality. He cramped up in the second half and I wasn’t going to take a risk with him. We brought him off but what a great performance against a very, very highly rated left-back in Ryan Sessegnon.
“I spoke to him earlier and said what a great day it would be for him to get the better of a left-back everyone is talking about at Premiership level. He did it.”
