I was a bit unlucky as the shingles wasn't just on the skin- I actually got it in my eye so the back of my eye was infected as well and that affected vision.
So it took a lot longer to go as I had to have drops in my eye as well as cream under the eyelid for three months.
It wasn't pleasant. If its just on the surface of your skin- then about 4 weeks will see it off
