Fresh from scoring his first Wanderers goal on Tuesday night, Karl Henry is focusing on the positives after the Whites’ 3-3 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Extending Bolton’s unbeaten run to four games, the midfielder was proud of the way the Trotters fought their way back into the game, stating that it was a credit to the hard work they put in throughout the match.
And although disappointed that Wanderers could not secure the three points, Henry shared his belief that a draw was a positive result when talking to bwfc.co.uk after the game.
“It was nice to be a part of it and to get a result,” Henry said. “Although we are a bit disappointed to not get the three points.
“It’s always nice to score as I don’t get many. I was showing Jeff King one of my training goals I scored from about two or three years ago. That is how few I get!
“Antonee Robinson was brilliant. The cross he put in was magnificent, I couldn’t really miss.
“The character we showed from 2-1 down at a place like this was tremendous. It was great to see the lads roll their sleeves up and try to get us back in the game and that’s what we did.”
With the Whites’ recent unbeaten run maintained, confidence is high in the Bolton dressing room with Henry encouraged by the amount of goals being scored by the team as a whole.
And heading into Saturday’s game with Norwich City, the 34-year-old is adamant that there is no reason not to believe that the Trotters can get out of the relegation zone.
Henry said: “We’ll go into the game full of confidence after going four games unbeaten.”
“We are looking like a side that can score goals. I’ve been in the situation before where you’re thinking where’s our next goal going to come from.
“At the moment, I feel like we’ve got goals in us. Between [Adam] Armstrong, [Josh] Vela, [Gary] Madine and Sammy [Ameobi], we look a real threat going forward and that’s a huge positive for everybody in the team.”
He continued: “When you’re under the cosh and you can’t see where your next goal is coming from, it’s tough to take. But, to see we have goals in us is a real positive.
“We want to keep this run going and get us closer to being out of the bottom three.”
