Adam Le Fondre is determined to show Phil Parkinson why he should be factored into Wanderers’ equation.
The former Wolves loanee makes a return to Molineux tomorrow afternoon fully recovered from the calf injury which had kept him out through much of October.
Le Fondre is desperate to reclaim the starting berth he held for much of last season but is keen to go about things the right way.
“It has been hard to break back in because the team has been doing really well at the moment – we seem to have found some sort of formula to get results, and that’s what you need to do in this league,” he said.
“It’s been difficult for me watching on but I’m determined to prove my worth in training and force my way into the manager’s reckoning during the rest of the season.”
Wanderers’ entire squad budget is roughly half of the cost of Wolves’ record signing Ruben Neves, who was captured in July from Porto for £15.8million.
But Le Fondre believes Parkinson’s squad can maintain their seven-game unbeaten run despite the odds being stacked against them.
“In modern day football now, sometimes it’s ugly and sometimes it’s pretty, but you can’t win every game being amazing – you have to be resolute and that’s what we have been,” he said.
“Even having been away from this division for a couple of years I haven’t seen too much difference in the quality of football.
“Team spirit and togetherness is still hugely important.”
