WE have survived the January transfer window, where in the end it was six in and three out.
Reece Burke and Antonee Robinson renewed their loans, while Harry Charsley, Tyler Walker, Jon Flanagan and Zach Clough have come in as new loanees.
We lost previous loanees Adam Armstrong and Josh Cullen and, of course, we lost Gary Madine to Cardiff City.
We narrowly missed out on bringing Chung-Yong Lee back and a couple of strikers but overall, I think it is a fairly good result considering our financial position.
If Ken Anderson is to be believed, then Madine was a lost cause and some credit has to be given to Wanderers for holding out for the best deal possible.
If the true figures are anywhere near £6million, then that is a good deal for a player nobody would have given tuppence for 18 months ago and did not cost us a penny when we signed him.
Fair dos to Madine for turning his career around but if he wanted away, then I wish him all the best and hopefully we have got a welcome boost to our cash levels.
So where does that leave us PM – Post Madine? He will be a loss but no player is indispensable.
No player, manager or owner is bigger than the club.
If we can find suitable players who are not under contract, we can still bring more players in.
Numerically, we have boosted our squad and so we will have to go with what we have got.
I wished for a striker to supplement Madine, but we did not get one.
So, I hope that Charsley, Clough and Walker can supply the goals. There is a video on social media showing Walker scoring some cracking goals.
Or is it time to give Connor Hall his chance? He’s scoring goals for fun in the development team.
Aaron Wilbraham will have to up his game to takeover Madine’s duties or Phil Parkinson will have to change his tactics to suit the players we have got now.
I also wished for a creative midfielder and this is something we also did not get.
Chungy would have fitted the bill there but it was not to be. I think we might have to look at the development team there with either Jeff King or Jack Earing stepping up.
This season was always going to be a battle. Now we know where we stand.
