Wanderers' Under-23s saw their 11-game unbeaten run come to an end away at Hull City on Monday evening.

The home side enjoyed the first chance of the game, but Jake Turner did well to keep Tyler Hamilton's strike from the edge of the box out low to his left.

City proceeded to take the lead with 27 minutes on the clock however as Fergus McAughtrie's pass found Greg Olley on the left flank, with the midfielder finding the top corner of the net with a shot from a tight angle 25 yards out.

Wanderers were reduced to ten men four minutes later when Jeff King was shown a straight red card for a late challenge on Hull's Adam Curry.

And although the Tigers pushed to add to their tally during the remainder of the first period, the Whites stood firm to ensure that the deficit was just one goal come the break, while Harry Brockbank came close with a header for the Trotters.

Following the restart though, the hosts doubled their lead nine minutes into the second half as Will Annan fired home from 25 yards with Turner unfortunately given no chance with the effort.

Wanderers did come close to pulling an effort back shortly after, with Connor Hall's shot being saved by the goalkeeper's feet from a narrow angle, while Cole Lonsdale also saw a long-range shot fly narrowly wide of the post.

But the Tigers made certain of the points 20 minutes from time when, on the counter-attack, Olley pulled the ball back for Powell who fired a first-time effort past Turner.

There was still time for Bolton to come close to a consolation goal through Lonsdale, but his strike flew inches past the post as the Trotters fell to defeat for the first time in 12 games.
