Wanderers' Under-18s slipped to a narrow defeat away at Nottingham Forest on Saturday morning.
The game started evenly, with both teams having possession without creating chances.
With 20 minutes gone meanwhile, Luca Navarro found space behind the Reds' defence and crossed the ball for Matty Barnes who shot narrowly wide.
The Whites started to find themselves on top thereafter, enjoying a couple of chances from distance.
Forest started the second half brighter however and put Bolton under early pressure.
Nicky Spooner's side defended well however and the game became a little stretched.
Barnes and Navarro both had chances to score, but were denied by some good goal keeping.
Despite their efforts however, Wanderers fell behind with just ten minutes left as Forest took the lead, breaking from a Bolton attack to score from just inside the area and snatch all three points.
Bolton: Turner, Moulden, Preston, Smith, Jones-Griffiths, Fearnley, Connell, Barnes, Darcy, Navarro
Subs: Comber, James, Edmondson, Graham, Sterling
