Bolton Wanderers' Under-23s extended their lead at the top of the Professional Development League North after a 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest at the Nigel Doughty Academy
Wanderers were level on points with Sheffield Wednesday at the top of the northern section prior to kick off and have gone a point clear thanks to Friday afternoon’s result.
The young Whites had the first chance of the game when Cole Lonsdale shot from the edge of the box and forced Tim Erlandsson into a save.
Connor Hall and Liam Morris also had chances before the interval but were unable to make the breakthrough.
Jake Turner did not have to make a save in the Wanderers’ goal with David Lee’s side doing a good job of identifying their opponents’ threats and restricting them.
In the second half, Morris and Hall continued to offer the biggest threat and as Wanderers pushed for a winner late on, the latter had an effort cleared off the line.
Lee was pleased with his side’s determination and desire however as they earned a valuable point towards staying top of the league.
Nottingham Forest: Erlandsson, Lawrence-Gabriel, Preston, Taylor, Iacovitti, Ahmedhodzic, Edser, Otim, Gomis, A.Smith, Walters
Wanderers: Turner, Brockbank, Muscatt, Edwards, Mitchell, Jones-Griffiths, Morris, Earing, Hall, White, Lonsdale
