A particularly stupid question that Gavin could have easily answered with a firm "no"

I wish more of the media would make a point of cutting off politicians who won't answer the question as it highlights the problem with media training.
I was taught to prepare 3 (positive) points that I wanted to make and whatever was asked, to link the question back to the points I wanted to make i.e. no matter how bad the situation was or how awkward the question, to use the media as a platform for promotion. I assume media training hasn't really changed and that idiot has clearly been media trained within an inch of his life.
Well done Madeley.
As for the politician, he would have come out of it with far more kudos if he had shown a bit of humility and admitted he had jumped the gun before waiting for all the evidence to come in (but would be more circumspect in future) - because if he had said he had no regrets he would have had to make a defence of his position and would have come across as arrogant and inflexible.

I'm not a big fan of Madeley, but fair play to him. If they won't answer a straight question, get them off.

Politicians are all media trained now,and go on these shows to make their own points, regardless of the questions.

We should sit them over a trap door to make it easier.
