The defender was sent off 34 minutes into his first league start for the club after referee Stephen Martin adjudged he had brought down Kayden Jackson and denied him a goalscoring opportunity.

Staff will review footage from an alternate angle this morning and seek advice from the disciplinary experts before deciding whether to argue the case with the Football Association's disciplinary committee.

"I am not happy with it one bit," Parkinson said after the game. "I am going to take a good look before we decide what to do."

Wilson is likely to be given a one-match ban if the red card is upheld, although punishments can be extended if appeals are considered by the Football Association to be frivolous.

Parkinson claims the contact was minimal and not enough to send Jackson to the floor.

“I thought it was a very harsh decision,” he said. “I have seen Kayden Jackson play and he’s quick but he does throw himself to the floor and from where I was there was minimal contact. I have seen in back since and I think he is very, very unlucky.

“From a very good referee – and he really is, normally – I think he has made the wrong call.

“I don’t think there is a foul. There’s always going to be come contact when two players run together but I think Marc does everything he can not to make contact."

Pointless. He got sent off for a silly challenge. Deal with it.
