Wanderers were left licking their wounds after a 2-0 defeat at Stoke City and a controversially disallowed goal for Josh Magennis.

But how did the players rate? Marc Iles gives his view.

WANDERERS (4-2-3-1)

REMI MATTHEWS…6 Made a series of saves to keep Stoke at bay – nothing spectacular but walked off the field with his head held high.

PAWEL OLKOWSKI…6 Worked quite well with Noone down the right side in the first half and kept Berahino relatively quiet. Never got a chance to push forward, though.

JACK HOBBS…6 Lost Indi for the opening goal but otherwise didn’t have a bad game. Not quite in the same magnetic form at Saturday, though.

MARC WILSON…5.5 Pulled out of position on more than one occasion as Stoke flooded their right wing. Not the happy return to the Bet365 Stadium he would have wanted.

JONATHAN GROUNDS…4.5 One step back after a couple forward in a Wanderers shirt. Stoke targeted the right side, where Grounds and Buckley struggled to cope.

JASON LOWE…6.5 Captain for the night and worked extremely hard for the side, including one double block to deny Bojan and Ince a certain goal.

JOE WILLIAMS…5 Had a purple patch after half time, getting more involved in the game, but the youngster put too many passes astray.

CRAIG NOONE…5 Always works hard and seemed to have the defensive side sorted with Olkoswki but his determination to cut back in gave Stoke’s defence an easy ride.

ERHUN OZTUMER…5 Came too deep looking for possession, which left Bolton with little support for Magennis. Excellent attitude but needs to be playing further forward.

WILL BUCKLEY…4.5 Excellent against Derby but strangely subdued here in the Potteries. Stoke took full advantage.

JOSH MAGENNIS…6 Cruelly denied a goal, the Wanderers striker had a game he is becoming familiar with – one of relative isolation.

Subs: Wildschut 5, 60 (for Buckley) – Put one great cross in, but no-one was home

Doidge 71 (for Magennis) – Didn’t get too involved

Donaldson 71 (for Noone) – Out on the right, didn’t get much to do.

Not used: B Williams, Vela, O’Neil, Wheater.

Stoke City (4-3-3): Butland; Martina, Williams, Indi, Pieters; Woods, Bojan, Allen; Ince, Afobe, Berahino.

Subs: McClean 67 (for Bojan), Crouch 88 (for Afobe), Fletcher 88 (for Berahino)

Not used: Frederici, Etebo, Shawcross, Edwards.

Referee: Jeremy Simpson (Lancs) 4/10

Attendance: 22,116
