Bolton Wanderers were held to a 0-0 draw by Stoke City in the Sky Bet Championship at the University of Bolton Stadium.

When speaking to bwfc.co.uk, manager Phil Parkinson covered these topics…

On his immediate reaction to the game…

I was very pleased, as it was a difficult game but we backed up the win against Rotherham with at least a point today.

I felt we probably deserved all three, as we had a particularly good period in the second half.

Concentration levels at the back were spot on.

I said to the lads and the media about those tight 1-0 defeats and turning those into draws and the draws into wins, and we have been able to do that over the last two games.

I am very pleased with the discipline we showed today.

We go into the game on Tuesday in good spirits.

On deserving more than a point today potentially…

You look at us physically and we looked exceptionally strong today.

There are many players that you can pick out, like Doidgey at the top of the pitch was tireless again, winning balls he had no right to win.

Josh Vela ran himself into the ground and I am pleased he got such an ovation when he was brought off, as he typified what we needed and what we were all about today.

Across the team though, there were some great performances and another clean sheet is a good thing for us, as we haven’t had one for a while.

We need more of those if we are to stay up.

On taking four points from the last six when looking at the fixtures prior…

Yeah without a doubt.

The Rotherham game was a mentally and physically demanding game and we have come into today’s game and the lads have prepared properly.

They backed up that performance today and it is important that we do the same again for Hull.

Unfortunately for players and staff, it is eyes down and concentrating again.

The lads have got tomorrow off but in on Monday and concentrating on what we have to do and putting the same manner of display again.

On sending the fans into 2019 with a positive performance…

I thought the supporters today were good because it was 0-0 and not exactly a high scoring game, but I think they identified with what they were seeing out on the pitch.

They saw the effort, concentration levels, discipline and good phases of play, which they responded well to and got right behind the side.

That is very important and we hope that many fans can come over to Hull on Tuesday and get behind us.

We know it is an expensive time but the more fans we can get there, the bigger the lift it will give the lads I am sure.

I love spin. "4 points from the last 6" sounds a lot better than "4 points from the last 15" which is the truth of the matter.
Still it was a considerable improvement and Rotherham are doing everything they can to help us by losing and getting 2 players sent off so for now we are safe, albeit on goal difference.

I'm guilty as well.  But the truth is saying 4 out of 6 is a positive spin... much like the first month of the season was for us.  Hull, away, will be a more difficult task... but today's clean sheet delighted all of us.  Truth is, we have not played well, and hopefully today's play will give us some confidence... sorely lacking during the bad run.  The bottom line is we only have to be in front of three teams... since we will not be in the top six.  Hopefully KA finds a buyer with some cash for next season.  We could rightly do with a couple of players in January... and please keep Vela on our squad.
