Great manager. Undone by simply appalling ownership.

Sad really.

Decent manager. Hands tied since day one. Would have liked to see what he could achieve with a bit of cash. Time to go now though

He failed badly at Charlton and Hull WITH money to spend, fucking clueless manager.

Certainly always comes across as a decent bloke, and the way he’s conducted himself here has been outstanding. Credit to the club.

I seriously don't disagree that in an ideal world a manager as dull and single minded as Parkinson wouldn't be allowed to manage a club as once great as ours.

But your continued failure to accept how shit the quality of players he has to work with is astonishing.

Like a lot of Bolton fans, I think your attitude with every manager since Allardyce has ultimately been "things can't get any worse than they already are", but your ultimate level of hatred in each case might suggest you were wrong on every occasion.

I know you'll say "but there are other clubs in this league who aren't spending millions and they're OK", which I'd agree with except I think what Parkinson has had to work with is on another level completely. Coming back to my point last week about how nearly every player in this team has had multiple chances at other Championship clubs, and they've simply ended up with us because we're the only team at this level desperate enough to take a chance on them. Obviously most of the other 23 clubs will have one maybe three or four players matching that description, but almost an entire team of complete cast offs?

Out of interest though, where did you get the idea that Parky had money to spend at Hull and Charlton? I'm not saying you're wrong, it's just that I had a quick look here and there and I'd say his net spend in both cases was basically zero. It's a pretty redundant debate either way, I just sense this is one of them typical Martin/Whittam style bluffs where you throw something out there that could be true, could be bullshit, but would never expect anyone to challenge you on anyway.

Parky has a particular approach which seems to involve building a wall, hoping it doesn't get penetrated and trying to score on the break which in principle is fine if you have the players to do it, i.e decent defenders, big engines in the midfield, quality strikers and enough quality to produce chances and finish.

Clearly he doesn't have the players he needs to do the job that way although he has managed to get them mobilised in such a way as to ensure that we stay in games (Hull aside) and a lot of the games we've lost have been by the odd goal, so whilst I have no problem with his approach in principle, I do have a problem with him persisting with it when it is clear to everyone that with these players it won't work.

I'm not saying that there's a magic formula to get more out of these players or rather turn them into a winning team, and TBF he's had some bad luck,  but given our situation I'd rather see him try a different approach - a more attacking approach - so that we at least go down fighting.

That aside, I feel sorry for the man and the situation he finds himself in with this owner - who can't afford to replace him anyway.
It can be argued that a lot of this squad are his signings - but I'm not convinced they were necessarily his first choice.

At least he's finally got round to blooding a couple of young prospects.

I'm sure he's a lovely bloke but as a manager for us he has been poor. He has one way pf playing and that's it, no plan b just the same old defensive one man upfront, like for like substitutions and constantly chopping and changing the team.
I appreciate he's not had much to work with but his whole mentality is wrong. He keep saying we have to stay in the game as long as possible but even when we go 1-0 down early as has happened numerous times this season nothing changes. He will only let the shackles off when the game is gone, Preston being the prime example.
I think he will leave at the end of the season whatever happens (i was hoping it would be earlier but no chance now) as he will have had enough of the shambles called BWFC.
