Sadly, the Americanisation of British politics means JC has a major problem. Image.
He dresses like a geography teacher, which is unacceptable to broad swathes of the British public, and the media.
Ideas matter little. Michael Foot had the same problem.
I well remember the pasting he got for wearing a 'Donkey Jacket' at the Cenotaph. That jacket was a gift from his wife, cost £200, and he was complimented on it by the Queen Mother.
At the 2015 Cenotaph act of remembrance, Corbyn stayed behind to meet and greet the veterans marching past, when all the other leaders and MP's had disappeared to a VIP lunch.
The papers next day said Corbyn had 'snubbed' the lunch.
I suppose he'll have to Blair himself up.

I agree the right wing media (most newspapers) will always be looking to attack and smear any left wing politician but the problem is that Corbyn gives them so much material to work with.
Just take his failure to deal with the anti-semiticism issue as an example. He could have avoided this easily by adopting in the first instance the widely used standard definition but he refused to do so on completely bogus grounds that it somehow prevented criticism of the state of Israel. It took months before he backed down. He certainly didn't help himself when he defended a blatantly anti-semitic mural. Could he not see that it was offensive?
The bottom line is that he is not a very intelligent person or a capable politician. Which makes him exactly the same as May, albeit with different opinions!

Depends what you mean by 'capable politician'.
Donald Trump is a capable politician, because, let's face it, he got elected. Unfortunately, he's also a corrupt idiot.

Yes Trump is unfortunately a completely unscrupulous but nevertheless capable politician. Corbyn is not. His election as leader of the Labour party is a sad joke - he couldn't get enough genuine nominations so some centrist Labour MPs nominated him so that there was a left wing candidate.
I am using the dictionary definition of capable: having the ability, fitness, or quality necessary to do or achieve a specified thing.

What should he have achieved which he hasn’t would be my question? Bearing in mind the state of the party when Milliband lost to Cameron.
Id also question what ability you think Trump has? Right place right time for his bigoted views in my opinion, little skill or innovation involved with rallying up that base.

Here are three things Corbyn has lost:
1. the referendum. Corbyn campaigned for remain although if you blinked you might have missed this
2. the 2017 election
3. 9 members of the Labour party because of his failure to deal with anti-semiticism.
In contrast Trump won the Republican nomination and the presidential election.

Trump only got 46.09% of the vote compared to Clinton's 48.18% - but due to the quirks of the American electoral system he got in.
Strongly tipped to get re-elected as well despite his ongoing troubles.

The net is closing on Trump, and good riddance.xmiles wrote:Here are three things Corbyn has lost:

Looks like this Mueller thing might leave a stink a bit bigger than we hoped.
Republicans are going to have to make a big decision.
Democratic field is currently an absolute joke.

Whatever Mueller has, Trump looks to be in bigger trouble elsewhere.Hipster_Nebula wrote:Looks like this Mueller thing might leave a stink a bit bigger than we hoped.

During his testimony Cohen said, "I am in constant contact with the Southern District".
Attorneys in the Southern District of New York are in the midst of several investigations related to Trump.
These investigations could be the real killer.

You meet some horrible heartless bastards in this country, especially where public transport is concerned, that's all there is to it.
On the topic of homeless people though, you just can't get away from beggars at the minute. You nip out for half an hour on your lunch and if you work somewhere like Manchester you come back needing another break because of the umpteen people you've had mithering you for change.
It's not good.

And we've had a Tory government for years pushing austerity. At least Burnham is trying to address the issue and do something about it.Hipster_Nebula wrote:Manchester has a labour mayor so it doesn't surprise me.
According to the Tories foodbanks are acceptable, that says everything about their mentality.

I work quite closely with food banks.
The whole thing is in desperate need of reform.
Universal credit is a disaster. I work in a trial area.
