Part-time staff at Wanderers feel they have been kept in the dark about overdue pay.

A joint statement issued on behalf of matchday staff, including turnstile operators and safety stewards, confirmed some of their ranks were considering pulling out of Saturday’s game against Millwall because they have not been paid their February salary.

It is understood a meeting will be held at the town hall tomorrow between club staff, and representatives of the council, police and ambulance service to discuss potential options.

The statement, which was also released to the BBC, read: “As can be expected morale is low, this is a workforce of worried and upset staff. There has been no information as to what is happening about our wages and jobs, and we do not know if we will have enough staff to open the gates on Saturday.

“Some members of staff will attend the match on Saturday and we respect the decision of the other staff that won’t, as is their right.

“Part-time staff had to find out from social media that they are not being paid. There were no apologies, no explanations, nothing! At least the full-time staff had an email on Friday.

“We pray the situation is resolved as soon as possible so we can get our football club’s name out of the mud and get back to supporting players and being there for the wonderful fans of this wonderful football club.”

Wanderers have been contacted for comment.
