Phil Parkinson insists Wanderers’ survival dream is still well and truly alive after a 2-1 victory against Millwall.

Two fine goals from Pawel Olkowski and Gary O’Neil gave Bolton a long-awaited boost after a difficult week off the pitch.

Lee Gregory’s scored three minutes from the end to set nerves jangling but Parkinson was delighted to see his side hold on and cut the gap to safety to five points.

“It was a great win for us,” he said. “We know what Millwall are all about.

“First half we had the better moments and first half we looked good when we got Sammy on the ball. But at half time I said to the lads ‘we have done okay but we can do better.’ “I thought we raised our game 10 per cent, each individual, and it was a terrific 15 minutes after half time where we got the goals.

“We could have had more after that, could have killed the game off. Millwall’s late goal is frustrating because Remi (Matthews) deserved a clean sheet, the whole team did.

“But after last week, getting beat at Swansea with two men sent off, it was one of the quietest coach journeys I have been involved in for quite some time.

“The week we have had again, to respond again, the dream is well and truly alive.”

Whispers around the stadium before the game suggested a takeover from the Football Ventures consortium could be imminent – and Parkinson is looking to quickly build on some momentum.

“We have got another home game on Tuesday and hopefully some positive times around the corner for the club as well,” he said.

“I don’t know about you but I could feel a lift around the place because there has been some positive news filtering around that the takeover is nearly done and the club could get that stability.

“I could feel it yesterday when Paul Aldridge came to the training ground and then today when I arrived at the ground. I could feel it round the stands.

“If there are potential new owners here then that’s a great message for them. This club is alive and kicking – and we’re ready for the fight in the last 10 games.”
