Bolton Wanderers drew 0-0 against Charlton Athletic in a Professional Development League clash at the University of Bolton Stadium on Wednesday evening.
First Half
Wanderers started the brighter of both teams, with Ronan Darcy hitting a hooked effort early on that looped just over the bar.
Following that, Jack Earing was pulling the strings as he provided both Olawale Tanimowo and Connor Hall with goal scoring opportunities that were defended well by Charlton defenders.
Charlton responded to this early pressure, with a ball across the box that was asking to be sent goal wards, but neither side could get on the end of the ball.
The Addicks went extremely close with 20 minutes gone, as Dan Bonry flashes a header at goal that smashed off the post.
Wanderers responded with the best chance of the half, as Joe Muscatt hits a tremendous right footed shot that produced a magnificent save from Chris Maxwell in the Charlton goal.
David Lee’s men should have taken the lead six minutes to go before the break, as Eddie Brown was one-on-one with Maxwell, with the goalkeeper smothering the eventual effort from the forward.
Shortly after that, winger Alfie Doherty nearly gave Jason Euell’s the lead, but Aspinall saves well with his feet.
Second Half
After the break, the first chance came to Abraham Odoh, as the midfielder took aim from distance but Adam Senior stood firm with a superb block.
Earing began to run the show, like he did in the first half, by sprinting through the heart of the Addicks defence, before laying off the ball to Brown.
The striker fires from distance but his effort was blocked by an onrushing Charlton defender.
Jason Euell’s men came close to scoring in a relatively quiet half, with Wassime Aouoachria flashing a header wide of the near post.
Olawale Tanimowo nearly plays in a near inch perfect pass through to Connor Hall, but a Charlton defender intercepted the pass and ferried the ball away.
Brown had the chance of the half late on, with Brown all on his own at the far post.
He hit a powerful low effort across the goalmouth, forcing Maxwell into a full length diving save to his right.
Neither side could force a winner in this one, with the points shared between the two teams.
Full Time
Wanderers XI: Aspinall, Brockbank (C), Muscatt, Senior, Hartshorne, Pritchard, Tanimowo, Earing, Hall, Brown, Darcy.
Substitutes: Preston, B. Williams, Broughton, White.
