PREMIER League Crystal Palace have enquired about Wanderers keeper Remi Matthews, The Bolton News understands.
The Eagles want competition for Wayne Hennessey and Vicente Guaita and are believed to have contacted Bolton yesterday.
Palace have not offered a fee up front but are willing to structure a deal which would allow Wanderers to profit from future transfers and appearances.
Signed last season from Norwich City, the 25-year-old stopper impressed for the Whites, playing 19 games in league and cup.
Matthews is unpaid since March and contracted this season but with Ben Alnwick already a rival for the number one spot, Wanderers may now face a choice over whether to keep both on the books, or run the risk of him handing in a notice.
Much could depend on the speed at which the takeover is completed, and fans are waiting with bated breath to see if and when the Football Ventures consortium sign a Share and Purchase agreement, which will then lead to a completed deal.
Administrators had previously hinted that they wanted to get the deal wrapped up before the weekend.
Meanwhile, a report in the Jewish Telegraph claims that Laurence Bassini is looking to take over another league club after officially dropping out of the race to buy Bolton.
The former Watford owner is continuing to threaten legal action over his failure to buy Wanderers, claiming that his bid - backed by West Ham United vice-chairman David Sullivan - was not given ample consideration.
“I offered an extra £10 million to help the club and bring in the right people,” he said.
“It didn’t matter what I did, the administrator wasn’t letting me near that club and I really do feel sorry for the Bolton fans.”
Wanderers’ administrators vehemently denied claims of favouritism, adding in a statement on Monday: “Football Ventures made the highest offer by a substantial margin.”
