Adam Chicksen is on the verge of a surprise international recall with Zimbabwe.
The Wanderers defender has been included in a provisional squad for next month’s Afcon Qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia.
Chicksen last played for Zimbabwe in 2018 and has one cap to his name but has yet to qualify for a full passport, needed to play in competitive fixtures. He applied last year only to be told his paperwork did not have the required information and that it would have to be resubmitted.
The Milton Keynes-born defender qualifies to play for the Warriors through his father, who is from Zimbabwean heritage.
The 28-year-old signed as a free agent in September and has made eight appearances for Wanderers this season. If he is successful in gaining citizenship, he could be unavailable to face his former club MK Dons on November 16.
The Warriors will play Botswana at home on the November 15 before travelling to Zambia four days later for their second Group H match.
Zimbabwe are currently placed 118th in the FIFA World rankings, one place below Sierra Leone and one above Kosovo.
