Keith Hill has “no inkling” of which way today’s verdict could go for Wanderers – but intends to carry on regardless.

An independent disciplinary commission will today decide what, if any, punishment Bolton will be handed for failing to fulfil last season’s game against Brentford and for postponing a League One match with Doncaster in August.

Various theories have been bandied around, ranging from three points to 12, but Hill is looking to keep his players’ focus on the weekend’s home match with MK Dons.

“I am not an expert in EFL rules and regulations, I don’t know who is,” he said. “It’s a difficult one when you look at the rest of the EFL and its members, I don’t know which way they want it to go.

“From our perspective, we’re just planning for the games regardless of the outcome. We’ve got 31 games fixtures to affect. The league will judge and sanction, we can’t do a lot about it.”

Wanderers are likely to hear either late this evening or tomorrow morning on the panel’s decision and have submitted a solid written case requesting leniency. They may also have scope to appeal if they consider the verdict is too heavy.

A number of owners and chairmen around the EFL have voiced their desire to see Bolton handed a maximum six-point penalty for both indiscretions.
