Gareth Ainsworth has backed Keith Hill to “sort things out” at Wanderers.

The Wycombe boss watched his side complete the double against Bolton to go second in the League One table.

Wanderers started the season on minus 12 points and lost by the same scoreline at Adams Park last August while the club was still in administration.

Ainsworth was pleased with his team’s professionalism on the day and hopes there can be better days ahead for his beaten opponents.

“There was a bit of pressure on the game because everyone has been beating Bolton,” he said.

“They have brought in Keith Hill who is a good friend and fantastic manager and he will sort things out given time.

“They are in a tough position and I do feel sorry for the fans and the club. It is a huge club and a privilege to be here.

"However, I think we have got them still when this club is in turmoil.”

Keith Hill said a tactical switch midway through the first half left his players “confused” and Ainsworth admits he was forced to shuffle his pack to gain a foothold in the game.

“Bolton played an interesting formation at the start. It was almost a 4-2-2-2 and it caught us off guard,” he said.

"I had to change formation after about 18 minutes to counter act. Once I did that I thought there was only one team in the game.”
