Wimbledon boss Glyn Hodges is keen to make amends after feeling his side did not get what they deserved the last time they met Bolton.
Joe Dodoo rescued a point for Wanderers at the UniBol back in December with a 95th minute equaliser – but Hodges believes a repeat performance from the one that de-railed in-form Gillingham at the weekend should be enough this time around.
“The message to my players is that went up there and should have won the game. There’s probably some unfinished business,” said the former Wales international.
“We got to extra time and then got done on the sucker punch from a late goal, which was really disappointing so we need to mirror the same desire and attitude that we showed on Saturday and see if we can get all three points this week.”
Wimbledon have six of their last 10 games against teams from bottom half and currently have a comfortable eight-point cushion on the bottom three.
Hodges is taking nothing for granted, however, after last season’s close shave.
“It’s 10 games, no matter who we are playing, and we should be looking to win all 10,” he said. “We have shown in the past we can take points off the top teams and we have had times where we should have taken more off the bottom ones.
“Hopefully in 10 games we will be in a good place.”
Poor weather has disrupted Wimbledon’s preparation over the last couple of weeks but an injury list that once accounted for several first team players has now calmed.
“This is the first week, touch wood, that we have only got a couple of bodies injured,” Hodges said.
“So hopefully it is the right timing and we can keep them fit to the end of the season.”
