Keith Hill says he has had to keep a stiff upper lip in the face of more injury problems this week.
Jack Hobbs, Kean Bryan and Yoan Zouma are the latest players to pull out of the reckoning for today’s game at Wimbledon – joining long-term casualties Will Buckley and Liam Edwards.
That means Hill has had to scrap his original game-plan for the Cherry Red Records Stadium and go with something different, and not for the first time since he came to the club last August.
“It has changed from day to day and sometimes it changes on matchday itself,” he told The Bolton News.
“Planning is difficult – you have to have plan A, plan B, plan C during the course of the week with the players who are available, rotating what your potential line-up could be.”
Despite a seemingly bleak situation in the league and continued speculation over his own position, Hill is determined to give the job his all, and says his players have shown the same sort of attitude.
“I love the game itself and being on the training pitch,” he said. “And I love creating more opportunities to make a difference every day.
“You have to rise above the setbacks and try to take them on.
“The challenge for us has been the injuries. Putting a team together has not been easy at times.
“We want to improve in and out of possession and there has been a lot of hard work on the training pitch and in the classroom, there’s only so much the players and staff can do.
“We’re doing everything we possibly can to make sure we build on some good performances but some bad results.”
