Wanderers’ midfield target Antoni Sarcevic says his next destination is to be decided within the “next couple of days”.
The Manchester-born midfielder is understood to be in advanced talks with Bolton and keen to return to the North West after helping Argyle to promotion last season.
Salford City have also lodged a bid – but The Bolton News understands a deal with the Whites is now looking a foregone conclusion.
Speaking to Argyle Chat, a podcast by Plymouth Live, Sarcevic brought fans up to date with his future.
“The situation is just probably what 1,400 other players are in at the minute,” he said, “interest, talks, ‘Do I want to go there, do I not want to go there?’ “For me, it’s a massive decision I have got to make. I have got to try and take what I have got from Argyle into my next club.
“I have got to make sure that everything, not just the football but moving back up north, it all fits together.
“I can safely say it will be happening in the next couple of days, I’m quite confident.”
Sarcevic was Plymouth’s top-goalscorer and player of the year last season but rejected the offer of an extended contract to move his young family back towards Manchester.
And though he admits it is a “massive risk” to step away from Home Park, the 28-year-old feels he has to put his home life first.
“Honestly, I think if you speak to any player or management staff in the game who have children and are away from home, it’s a massive part of your life,” he said.
“They take a big chunk of it. We have raised the boys in Plymouth and they have loved it but I just feel it was the time that I fully wanted to settle them down.
“I wanted to make sure they feel settled and they are ready for their futures, and are not getting dragged in and out of schools, and family members come every couple of months.
“I didn’t want a mix-up of their life for them, and that was a big decision. That’s one that me and Kate made.”
