Ian Evatt is expecting more movement in the transfer market in the coming days up and down the country.
Wanderers have been one of the more active League Two sides with Eoin Doyle, Antoni Sarcevic, George Taft and Brandon Comley their four new faces since the head coach swapped Barrow for Bolton.
Other sides are yet to make a signing however as they waited for clarity on how the 2020/21 campaign will look with the football calendar shifting due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
That came on Friday with news the Premier League and EFL will both start on September 12, the extended top flight and Championship campaigns also ending over the last week.
“Things are starting to move now we’ve got a definitive start date and seasons are finishing,” Evatt told The Bolton News.
“Players are now getting told whether they are available or not so I would think there will be some more movement pretty quickly.”
Evatt has had just over a week working with his side who were back in contact training as a whole group for the first time at Lostock yesterday.
Despite being one of those released at the end of last season Joe Bunney has been involved, although it is a training arrangement with the left back as things stand.
Others, including Evatt’s former Blackpool team-mate and former Wanderer Alex Baptsite, have also been in on trial in the early days of pre-season.
But despite having plenty of work to do in the transfer market after 14 senior professionals left the club after relegation from League One, getting back on the training pitch has not made the head coach any more impatient for further new recruits.
“We need players, there’s no doubt about it but we’re not going to rush into anything,” he said.
“There’s lots of rumours out there and I’ve seen the rumours and some are quite far off the mark.
“We identify our position-specific targets and we base that on data, tactical, technical, physical capabilities.
“We’ve got our targets but we’re not going to be held to ransom and we’ll make sure we get the players at the right price. It’s that simple.”
Evatt also again rejected claims about the Whites’ spending power, the signings of promotion winners Eoin Doyle and Antoni Sarcevic particularly catching the eye, as they look to make an immediate return to League One.
“We’re not trying to buy our way out of the division,” he said.
“The rumours going around the division about the finance and what we’re paying aren’t true at all.
“We’re bringing in players at the value we see fit.
“We’re not overspending in any way shape or form, we will not do that.
“Our recruitment is very, very specific and we’re hopeful we’ll get it right.”
