Wanderers have been dealt a blow with the loss of two first team players to injury.
Andy Tutte limped out of today’s 3-0 win against Southend United with a thigh problem, and Ian Evatt also revealed that striker Shaun Miller tore his thigh in the final moments of Thursday’s training session.
Tom White replaced Tutte 11 minutes in against Southend and could now come into the equation for next weekend’s home game against Port Vale.
Evatt says his side’s recent upturn in form has been helped by naming a settled side – and today’s line-up was unchanged for the third game running.
“Consistency and repetition on the training pitch helps teams improve,” he said.
“It was always going to come right, I was always confident as you know, but it helps when you have players fit and available.
“Unfortunately, Shaun Miller has torn his thigh in training so he’ll be out for a while. Andy Tutte picked up a thigh injury today too, but that’s the way things are at the moment.
“But we’ll have to deal with it. We’ll adapt and overcome.”
Wanderers have now put together five successive victories for the first time in more than three years, moving to ninth spot in League Two.
Evatt has underlined, however, that his team remains a work in progress.
“Winning breeds confidence and helps with morale,” he said. “I said to them before the game that today was about not resting on our laurels and to give Southend the respect they deserve.
“These runs are hard to come by. It’s difficult to win consecutive games, back to back, and when you are on one you have to make the most of it and fight.
“We are in a good place, mentally, but there’s lots and lots of work to be done.”
