WANDERERS (3-4-1-2)
MATT GILKS…7.
One really important save in the first half with the game scoreless and a couple of rather more routine efforts after the break. No question how important his communication is to the cause.
ALEX BAPTISTE…8.5.
The cameras didn’t do him any favours walking into the ground but the old man of the back three looked a million dollars out on the pitch.
RICARDO SANTOS…7.
Never placed under massive pressure but his pace bailed Bolton out a couple of times and Santos continues to look a class above.
RYAN DELANEY…6.5.
Definitely improved as the game wore on. Looked at first a little reticent to move the ball forward but he stabilised and played his part in the end.
PETER KIOSO…7.5.
A constant threat on the right. Backed up by Baptiste, the Luton loanee once again looked like a bundle of energy, getting forward to support the attack.
ANTONI SARCEVIC…6.5.
Had a quiet spell after half time but dug deep in the second half to get Bolton back into the ascendancy. His defensive work was good, once again.
ANDY TUTTE…N/A.
Injured his thigh after 11 minutes and was replaced by Tom White. A blow for Bolton but one they will have to deal with in the coming weeks.
GETHIN JONES…6.5.
Solid on the left, as ever. Didn’t see quite as much of the ball as Kioso did in the second half but always willing to support.
ALI CRAWFORD…6.
Quite a frustrating afternoon for the Scot, whose radar wasn’t working for spells of the game. May well be under pressure for a starting spot now with Isgrove and Darcy knocking on the door.
EOIN DOYLE...8
Wanderers are learning how to play for him. And you do that, you get goals. Took his chances well.
NATHAN DELFOUNESO...7
Great header to start things off - even though he'll accept Baptiste put it on a plate for him. Always looking to get involved.
Subs: White 11 (for Tutte) – Improved as the game went on. 6
Isgrove 75 (for Crawford), Mascoll 85 (for Jones), Comley 85 (for Sarcevic), Darcy 85 (for Kioso) Not used: Crellin, Greenidge.
Southend: Oxley; Bwomono, White, Hobson, Kyprianou; Olaynika, McCormack, Dieng, Demetriou, Egbri; Goodship.
Subs: Sterling 65 (for McCormack), Clifford 82 (for Kyprianou), Taylor 82 (for Egbri), Acquah 82 (for Goosdhip).
Not used: Seaden, Phillips, Rush.
Referee: John Busby 6/10 – Probably didn’t make the right call on Wanderers’ penalty and wasn’t helped by his linesman in disallowing one effort from Delfouneso.
