WANDERERS (3-4-1-2).

MATT GILKS…5.

Can’t really pin too much blame on a keeper who made three or four excellent saves to keep the scoreline in single digits. Couple of softer ones went in, though.

ALEX BAPTISTE…3.

Way off what was required. Simply did not do enough to stop Port Vale getting the ball into the penalty box.

RICARDO SANTOS…3.

Been praised from all angles of late but this was downright sloppy. He may argue the penalty was harsh but it didn’t mask a bad day.

RYAN DELANEY…3.5.

Never fully got to grips with Worrall and suffered from the same issues as Baptiste in that he could not stem the flow of crosses.

PETER KIOSO…3.

Gap between himself and Baptiste was enough to drive the Port Vale team coach through at times. All the energy in the world – but needs to get his positioning right.

ANTONI SARCEVIC…4.5.

Though there were some decent moments in an attacking sense he was too often bypassed by the Vale midfield.

GEORGE THOMASON…4.

Not a debut to remember for the youngster. A gamble to put him in – and, sadly, the lack of defensive cover cost Bolton dearly.

GETHIN JONES…4.

Got forward to score his first professional goal but defensively he failed to get to grips with Worrall and Oyeleke.

ALI CRAWFORD…3.

Marked out of the game completely by Joyce and Co. Wanderers needed him to get the supply line working to a dangerous front two but he was nowhere to be seen.

EOIN DOYLE…7.

Did well with the scraps he was fed. Added a seventh goal of the season and showed some classy touches around the penalty box.

NATHAN DELFOUNESO…6.

Seemed stymied by a back or hamstring injury in the first half but improved as the game went on to become a real threat later.

Subs: Isgrove 54 (for Crawford) – Made an impact and scored a goal 6.

Comley 54 (for Delaney) – So-so. Stemmed the tide 5.

Darcy 55 (for Baptiste) – Showed some good touches 6.

Greenidge 55 (for Thomason) – Steady enough for last half hour 5.

Not used: Crellin, Comley, White, Mascoll, Greenidge, Darcy, Isgrove.

Port Vale (4-3-3): Brown; Mills, Legge, Smith, Fitzpatrick; Oyekele, Joyce, Conlon; Worrall, Rodney, Montano.

Subs: Hurst 69 (for Montano), Burgess 88 (for Oyekele).

Not used: Pope, Cullen, Brisley, Clark, Visser.

Referee: Carl Boyeson 6/10.
