Not sure these are all true:-
I heard of a Ramsbottom farmer whose surname was Cart yet christened his son Orson.
My swimming teacher at school was called Alfred Hart.....which is ok except that everyone called him Alf.
I played tennis against a guy called Richard Soles, but the scorers used only the first letter of christian names on the scorecard.
Another Ramsbottom resident, surname Pipe, allegedly christened his son Duane....odd lot in Rammy!
My dad swears that he shared a barracks in WW2 with a guy called Wrigley Wimpany Shirt.
Any other contributions to add?
