Ian Evatt is hoping for a domino effect in the final days of the transfer window with Wanderers in the market for some last-gasp business.

The Whites saw last night’s game at Mansfield Town postponed, with Evatt’s attentions likely to have switched to possible incomings before Monday’s 11pm deadline.

Declan John, Kieran Lee, Ben Jackson and Zak Elbouzedi have all arrived this month, but Evatt is keen to freshen his squad up further, but says the prospects of that are out of his hands.

That is down to Wanderers being reliant on clubs sourcing new faces of their own, before sanctioning the departures of players that Evatt is looking to bring in.

But he remains hopeful that will happen, even if it doesn’t come in time for Saturday’s return to action against Leyton Orient.

He said: “These players may or may not come available right at the end of the window. We’re kind of waiting to get the green light really.

“As soon as we get that green light we’ll look to get things done.

“We’re in the lap of the gods a bit with the players’ and the clubs’ decision making in terms of it’s a bit of a domino effect really, the parent clubs are looking to get people in which in turn then releases the ones that we’re looking at.

“Hopefully that will happen and we’ve been assured that it should but until it actually happens then we can’t really do anything.”

Wanderers have allowed George Taft (Scunthorpe United) and Liam Gordon (Dagenham & Redbridge) to leave the club on loan this month as Evatt looks to engineer a positive second half of the season to get his side in top six contention.

There is also a waiting game when it comes to loan players currently on the club’s books.

Goalkeeper Billy Crellin hasn’t played since the FA Cup tie against Crewe Alexandra in early November, the 20-year-old an unused substitute in recent weeks as back-up to Matt Gilks.

Wanderers remain in discussions with his parent club Fleetwood Town about his next steps, though the Cod Army being without a manager has complicated that situation slightly.

Midfielder Tom White, on loan from Blackburn Rovers, hasn’t made the matchday squad in the last four matches, but remains at the club as discussions with his parent club continue.

Rovers recalled teenage winger Luke Brennan from his loan spell at AFC Fylde earlier this month due to a lack of game-time, but 23-year-old White has remained at Wanderers despite his lack of match action.

The Championship club would be keen to get White another loan move if possible, however the uncertainty surrounding the immediate future of the National League has made that doubtful.

On the pair’s situation, Evatt added: “They’re still ongoing, I think that will go right up until the last day of the window really. I would think there will be some sort of announcement but not until very late.”
