Wanderers have confirmed that Kieran Lee is currently in self-isolation and that one un-named player has now tested positive for coronavirus.

Speaking after the game at Salford City had been postponed, Ian Evatt explained that midfielder Lee had not travelled to the Peninsula Stadium.

Another player also tested positive in the latest round of Covid tests, which now take place twice a week.

The Bolton News understands that the player in question was tested separately on Wednesday - with the full squad getting their regular check on Thursday, which showed up no positives.

Evatt declined to give away details of the player in question, or which line-up he had been preparing to name against the Ammies. But Lee will miss Tuesday night’s home game against Morecambe and, potentially, next weekend’s match against Stevenage, which will also be played at the University of Bolton Stadium.

“Kieran Lee is self-isolating at the moment, so we’ve lost him for 10 days, but other than that we were all fit and ready to go,” the manager said of his team at Salford.

“He (Lee) is not positive. One of our other players is positive, but I’m not going to name who that is because I haven’t asked his permission. Kieran was a close contact so he’s self-isolating accordingly.”

Just seven of the 12 fixtures in League Two survived this weekend, with four called off because of bad weather and Cheltenham’s home game against Carlisle United postponed for positive coronavirus tests in the Robins camp.

Wanderers are now 20th in League Two, 11 points behind Tuesday’s opponents Morecambe in the last play-off spot and 10 points clear of Grimsby Town in the final relegation place.

They have 21 games remaining but now have just a few spare weeks in which to arrange midweek games.
