WANDERERS (4-2-3-1).

MATT GILKS…6.

Not hugely troubled by anything but once again let down by the marking in front of him for the Morecambe goal.

HARRY BROCKBANK…6.5.

Hugely encouraging until injury forced him off the pitch. Made some important clearances for the first hour. Hopefully nothing serious.

ALEX BAPTISTE…6.5.

Gave away a few cheap fouls towards the end but his defending in the penalty box itself was sound.

RICARDO SANTOS…7.

Impressive again. Those surging runs from the back returned and he won more in the air than anyone else in a Bolton shirt.

BEN JACKSON…6.

Set plays were solid and he showed a willingness to get forward as well. Interesting battle developing with Declan John for a place in the side.

MJ WILLIAMS…6.

Decent debut for the former Blackpool man, who knitted things together nicely in front of the back four.

GEORGE THOMASON…7.5.

There are times when his rawness shows through – but they were outnumbered by positives against Morecambe, including one sumptuous switch pass.

ARTHUR GNAHOUA…5.5.

Didn’t get the space to really stretch his legs and run at Morecambe as they sat so deep, which made for a frustrating evening.

NATHAN DELFOUNESO…6.5.

More like it after a few so-so displays. Played a big part in Doyle’s goal and looked a threat with ball at his feet.

LLOYD ISGROVE…5.5.

A bit like Gnahoua, just wasn’t his day. Wanderers didn’t really get him into the areas to do any damage in the first half and he was swapped after the break.

EOIN DOYLE… 7.

Moved on to 11 goals for the season, which hasn’t been done for seven years at Bolton. A sharp, sharp finish too.

Subs: Maddison 5 61 (for Gnahoua) - Debut wrecked by a marginal call from the referee.

Afolayan 6, 61 (for Isgrove) - Some bright touches for the West Ham loanee. Might be pushing for a start on Saturday.

Jones 6, 62 (for Brockbank) - One very important headed clearance late on.

John 6, 70 (for Jackson) - Nearly grabbed a winner at the end.

Elbouzedi 78 (for Delfouneso) - Lost his marker for the goal.

Not used: Comley, Tutte.

Morecambe: Letheren; Mellor, Lavelle, Knight-Percival, Gibson; Diagouraga, Denny; O’Sullivan, Wildig, Gomes; Stockton.

Subs: McAlinden 76 (for Denny) Cooney 82 (for Mellor), Hendrie 82 (for Gibson), Lyons 83 (for Wildig), Slew 83 (for Stockton).

Not used: Halstead, Davis.

Referee: Oliver Langford – Won’t get high marks from the Wanderers dressing room after he was seemingly swayed by Morecambe’s appeals on Maddison’s red. 4/10.
