WANDERERS (4-2-3-1).
MATT GILKS…5.5.
Can’t really hide from the error he made on Clarke’s shot but, to his credit, he stood tall in the latter stages when Mansfield threw everything forward in search of an equaliser.
GETHIN JONES…6.5.
Wanderers’ Steady Eddie scrapped for everything under pressure, with the physical Bowery often drifting his way. Big decision coming Evatt’s way with Brockbank’s impending return.
RICARDO SANTOS…7.
Not challenged in the air as much as he had against Stevenage – but some of Santos’s longer passing was outstanding and set Bolton away quickly.
ALEX BAPTISTE…8.
The brave challenge to deny Reid a second at 2-2 deserves a mention. But for one ball played in behind him he was practically faultless.
DECLAN JOHN…8.5.
Classy stuff from the Welshman, who was Bolton’s biggest attacking threat all evening. Stayed positive at two down and dragged his side back into it with some great wide play.
KIERAN LEE…8.
Not a flashy player but one who seems to be everywhere all at once. Linked up with the front men, knitted things together at the back. When he’s 100 per cent, a real winner.
MJ WILLIAMS…7.
Made the most of his midweek reprieve and provided good protection for the back four, breaking up plenty of attacks from a Mansfield side who posed a constant threat.
LLOYD ISGROVE…6.
Still needs to work on the defensive aspects of his game – but Isgrove has a touch of class about him and came up with some nice exchanges at the other end of the pitch.
MARCUS MADDISON…6.
It isn’t quite there for Maddison… yet. Wants to be front and centre but proved hit-and-miss in the mud. If he keeps his head down, his quality will surely tell.
DAPO AFOLAYAN…7.
A proper bundle of energy. The youngster was inches away from a first Bolton goal and though he faded in the second half there was plenty to admire.
EOIN DOYLE…6.5.
Doesn’t get enough credit for his build up work – and this was a night where his link-up play was very good indeed. He’d prefer to be knocking them into the net, though.
Subs: Delfouneso 6, 62 (for Maddison) – Entered the game at a tough spell but showed a strong attitude.
Gnahoua 7, 72 (for Afolayan) – Hail the king! Deserved his moment in the mud.
Thomason 82 (for Lee) – Dug in at the end.
Miller 82 (for Isgrove) – Great to see him back.
Not used: Comley, Tutte, Jackson.
Mansfield: Stone, Perch, Rawson, Sweeney, McLaughlin, Maris, Quinn, O Clarke, Charsley, Reid, Bowery.
Subs: Benning 82 (for Quinn).
Not used: Stech, O’Keefe, O’Driscoll, J Clarke, Law.
Referee: Atony Coggins 7/10 – A real mark up on some of the officials we have had recently. Had one big call to make on the penalty when Maddison tangled with Quinn but, for once, Wanderers found Lady Luck on their side.
