WANDERERS (4-2-3-1).
MATT GILKS…6.
Won’t have many easier nights than this. Took about 85 minutes for Oldham to put a shot on target – and it was an easy one to take.
GETHIN JONES…7.5. MOM
Don’t know what Bolton are putting in his coffee at the moment but the right-back bossed every inch of Boundary Park that he touched.
RICARDO SANTOS…7.
Really led by example in the first 15 minutes when Oldham were pressing hard. Able to relax more as the game went on.
ALEX BAPTISTE…6.5.
Did what he needed to do – but Oldham’s lack of attacking intent after the sending off made this a nice and comfortable night for the Bolton defenders.
DECLAN JOHN…7.
Really starting to get into the groove. Defensively very solid and very rarely wastes the ball. Looking one of the best bits of business Bolton have done for a while.
KIERAN LEE…7.
Completely unflustered. Finished after an hour with a 97 per cent pass success rate, which is quite frankly, stunning.
MJ WILLIAMS…6.5.
Worked efficiently but never looked over-stretched, which is probably just as well, as Saturday’s game at Valley Parade will be right up his street.
DAPO AFOLAYAN…7.
An inch to the right and he’d have been celebrating a goal rather than Doyle – but he won’t mind. Has skills but also substance. Made more tackles than anyone else on the pitch!
ANTONI SARCEVIC…7.
As confident and impactful as he has been in 2021. Wanderers need him fit and firing and this was definitely a step in the right direction.
NATHAN DELFOUNESO…6.5.
Had a fine first half and was a constant outlet on the right wing. Dropped off a little bit in the second half, in line with the whole Bolton attacking performance.
EOIN DOYLE…7.
Absolutely buried his 13th goal of the season and sniffed out the chance with pure striker’s instinct. One former club ticked off the list, another one on Saturday?
Subs: Thomason 6, 61 (for Lee) – Tried to get things going in the last half hour.
Maddison 6, 69 (for Delfouneso) – Had one big chance but unselfishly squared the ball.
Gnahoua 75 (for Afolayan) – Couldn’t really get involved.
Miller 75 (for Doyle) – Wanderers were winding down by the time he came on.
Not used: Tutte, Isgrove, Jackson.
Oldham (4-2-3-1): Lawlor; Adams, Clarke, Piergianni, Borthwick-Jackson; Diarra, McCalmont; Bahamboula, Keillor-Dunn, Tasdemir; Grant Subs: Ntambwe 46 (for Grant), Fage 46 (for Tasdemir), Whelan 69 (for McCalmont), Vaughan 85 (for Clarke)
Not used: Biboe, Blackwood
Referee: James Oldham 7/10 – Got the sending off spot on.
