Bolton League One promotion odds as Sunderland made favourites 12660031

Wanderers have been made the joint-fifth favourite to win League One in 2021/22.

Bookmakers SkyBet ranks Ian Evatt’s men at 12/1 to lift the trophy next May after gaining promotion from League Two in 2020/21.

Sunderland have been made the outright favourites with fresh investment likely at the Stadium of Light – although Lee Johnson finished last season on a sticky wicket with some Black Cats fans.

Relegated Sheffield Wednesday have also been made second favourites to bounce straight back to the Championship. But the Owls also have financial issues to tackle, with local reports claiming at the weekend that players were considering walking away from their contracts over wage disputes – echoing a situation which Bolton faced themselves only a couple of years ago.

The same bookmakers have made Wanderers 9/4 for a top six finish.

There are no odds currently available on Morecambe, who completed the league’s line-up on Bank Holiday Monday after beating Newport County in extra-time in the play-off final at Wembley.

Rank outsiders are currently Cambridge United, who came up with Wanderers from League Two, alongside Cheltenham Town.

Not sure how we can be so short odds for a top 6 finish? Are the bookies expecting us to splash the cash and get a load of players in?

No sign of Cheltenham in the betting either and they won the league!

Did't the bookies have us favourites to bounce straight back to the Premier League under Coyle?

That ended well didn't it!
