Those of you that follow my work will know my penthouse has two entrances, the front door where footballers, celebs and hotties are greeted, and the tradesman's entrance where the riff-raff are directed.
Unfortunately the double doors to the tradesman's entrance had become worn through excessive use so I had to get a man in to fix them. I invited a few local carpenters to inspect my tradesman's entrance and give me a quote for new doors. I went with Roger because he claimed to have been inside several tradesman's entrances, and promised me a tradesman's entrance people would be proud to enter.
The quote I accepted was £1200 fitted. Anyway, Roger completed the job last Friday and I was over the moon with the result. My neighbours have been coming through my tradesman's entrance ever since, claiming it's the best one they've ever experienced.
However, on Saturday I received a text from Roger saying he'd had to spend an extra £250 on the tradesman's entrance as it was larger than he had originally thought. I quickly told him to 'fook off' and pointed out he'd measured my tradesman's entrance so I wasn't responsible for his cock-up. He's become quite aggressive in his replies, his last text threatened to "smash my back doors in" if he didn't get his £250.
I have a written quote stating the price is £1200 so I don't think he has a leg to stand on demanding more money, but what do you think? Have you ever had a tradesman demand extra money after doing a job?
