This was the ultimate in entertainment in Bolton in 1960. The year previously the Grand Theatre had closed, reopening as a “Continental” music hall where the audience could eat and drink while they watched the show

Fascinating article! I wonder how long it took him to write that up.

I don't think this 'continental sophistication' took off in Bowton when you could get hot pies freshly delivered to Deansgate pubs on a Satday neet.
