First Half
The first chance of the game fell to the Whites, as Ali Crawford got on the end of Ronan Darcy cross, but his touch evaded him allowing goalkeeper Urwin to smother the ball.
Chorley responded with a chance of their own, as Owens tried an acrobatic effort, but his attempt lacked powered and didn’t trouble Luke Hutchinson.
Dennis Politic was next to wager in on the action, with a powerful, swirling shot from distance palmed over the bar by Urwin.
Wanderers came close again, as Crawford found another pocket of space before curling his effort wide from outside the box.
Deadlock was finally broken as Adam Senior, tonight’s captain, thundered home a header at the back post from a Crawford corner.
The Magpies nearly had an avenue back into the game, as a through ball to Owens nearly made its way through, only for Brandon Comley to make a timely tackle to halt their momentum.
Hutchinson was called into action shortly before the break for the Whites, as he saved an effort from Owens.
First-year pro Hutchinson made a fantastic double save three minutes before the interval, as he halted both Ustabasi and Henley’s efforts to equalise.
Half-Time
Second Half
Politic nearly doubled Wanderers’ lead after the break, as he beat a couple of defenders, but his effort flashed across the face of the goal.
On the hour mark, Hutchinson made a superb save to keep Chorley from drawing level, as an effort from Whitehouse stung the young shot stopper’s gloves.
Wanderers’ Romanian winger worked his down the channel soon after, leaving a cross hanging in the air, but nobody could get on the end of it.
Second half substitute Matthew Tweedley split the defender open with 20 minutes left, finding Jay Fitzmartin but the youngster’s eventual effort was saved by Urwin.
It went from goal scorer to goal saver for Wanderers’ defender Senior, as he cleared Henley’s effort off the line with just a quarter of an hour left.
Senior was in the thick of it once again, this time cushioning a Magpies’ effort safely in the clutches of Hutchinson.
The hosts looked to step up their efforts late on, as a header from Smith tested Hutchinson, who dealt with the ball accordingly.
This was the last of the action, as Wanderers took the spoils and the Harold Taylor Memorial Trophy in this one.
