Thought someone might have put this up by now but for anyone who hasnt seen it , heres the report below. Thank god for that!!
MICK McCarthy is not in the running to succeed Owen Coyle as manager of Wanderers, The Bolton News understands.
The former Republic of Ireland boss had been the bookmakers’ favourite since the vacancy was announced on Tuesday morning, but is not one of the names being considered as chairman Phil Gartside whittles down his shortlist.
McCarthy has been out of work since leaving Wolves in February and has twice won the Championship title.
But it appears that the Whites are targeting a younger boss to reignite their push for promotion, which has failed to materialise in the opening 10 games of the season.
No deadline has been set on when an appointment will be made, but the club reiterated yesterday that the search to find Coyle’s replacement would be “thorough” and that no approach had yet been made.
Bookmakers William Hill reported yesterday that odds on Michael Appleton becoming the next Wanderers boss fell from 50/1 to 8/1 in 24 hours.
The Portsmouth boss was ranked as third favourite behind Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (6/4) and McCarthy (11/10).
