The EFL has outlined it will reintroduce the blanket ban on Saturday 3pm matches being streamed to UK supporters.
With coronavirus restrictions lifted on supporters attending EFL matches, the league has announced that it will revert to the previous ban on streaming.
That will mean supporters in the UK won’t have access to a live stream of games taking place between 2.45pm and 5.15pm.
Rules were relaxed last season when coronavirus restrictions meant supporters weren’t able to attend live matches. With that no longer in place, the EFL has returned to its previous stance.
Clubs will however be able to stream midweek matches and those on bank holidays.
The same goes for matches moved from Saturday at 3pm for non-TV reasons and Papa John’s Trophy games, except the semi-final and final which will be exclusive to Sky Sports.
Supporters outside of the UK will have access to streams of all matches so long as the game hasn’t been selected for international television coverage.
An EFL statement said: “In respect of domestic streaming, the EFL will return to the position as was prior to the pandemic when the live broadcast or streaming of any match in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is prohibited between the hours of 2:45pm-5:15pm on Saturday afternoons.
“EFL Clubs will have the right to live-stream midweek matches on iFollow or Club equivalent service, with Sky Sports also able to stream the same Championship fixtures to subscribers across their Red Button interactive and digital services.”
Sky Sports will show 138 Sky Bet EFL matches and 15 Carabao Cup ties.
Quest will continue to show highlights of matches in the Sky Bet EFL, Carabao Cup and Papa John’s Trophy, with a weekly Saturday show at 9pm.
